BECOME A LIFE SAVER
Get Involved
Pre-Requisites for becoming an active patrolling life saver.
MEMBERSHIP
Join Champion Bay Surf Life Saving Club.
PHYSICAL
To undertake training in the SLS Bronze Medallion, candidates are required to complete:
400 metre swim in less than 9 minutes
To have reached the age of 15 years at time of final assessment
TRAINING
Training takes approximately 6 weeks and includes theory, practical, dry and wet sessions. All sessions must be attended.
Session times are aligned with the needs of the group.
(A minimum of 6 candidates is required to run a course.)
Training is provided free of charge with the expectation that successful candidates will join a patrol team and assist in providing a Life Saving service.
ASSESSMENT
Assessment will be conducted by an independent assessor.

After training you will be able to:
Complete a run-swim-run (200m-200m-200m) in under 8 min.
Perform water rescues with and without equipment.
Operate communication equipment – Radios
Understand and deliver Surf Signals
Perform: First Aid, Lifts and Carries, Resuscitation, Defibrillation
Provide Spinal Care
Understand and participate in Patrol Set-Up and Operations, including IRB.
